The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has paid a courtesy call on the Governor and staff of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) as part of a tour aimed at deepening engagement with the country’s central bank.
The visit was intended to give the Asantehene a firsthand appreciation of the role of the BoG in stabilising the economy, maintaining price stability, and safeguarding the country’s financial system.
Welcoming the Asantehene, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Johnson Asiama highlighted the central bank’s ongoing efforts to sustain macroeconomic stability, strengthen monetary discipline, and restore confidence in the financial sector, particularly in the wake of recent economic challenges.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in his remarks, underscored the importance of a stable financial system to national development and commended the Bank for its efforts at managing inflation, regulating the banking sector, and supporting economic recovery.

“I am here to encourage you. When the currency is healthy, the economy bristles with opportunities, the people are able to use the opportunities to create business, the business allows the people to create jobs, and ultimately walk in wealth”, he said.
He also emphasised the need for continuous dialogue between traditional authorities and key state institutions to promote inclusive growth and long-term stability.
The Asantehene’s tour included interactions with management and staff of the Bank, as well as briefings on the central bank’s core functions, policy direction, and reforms aimed at strengthening the resilience of Ghana’s financial system.
The visit forms part of Otumfuo’s broader engagements with national institutions to better understand their operations and explore ways traditional leadership can support national development priorities.
