The Ashaiman Police are investigating the mysterious deaths of six people in the municipality within the past two weeks.
Disclosing this to the Times here, Deputy Superintendent of Police Laar Barman, said four of the victims who were men were suspected to have been lynched while two might have been killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped at different locations in the area.
He said last Thursday, for instance, the body of a female adult was found in a nearby bush close to the Golf City in Ashaiman.
The police later found out that the body had been lying at the spot for two days, suggesting that the woman might have been killed at another place, and the body dumped there.
In view of this development, DSP Barman appealed to the Municipal Assembly to revive the Neighbourhood Watchdog Committee concept to improve security in the municipality.
When contacted on the formation of the committees, the Municipality Chief Executive, Mr Albert Boakye Okyere, said a number of communities have already applied to form Watchdog Committees.
He, however, explained that members of such committees would have to be cleared by the Police before they will be allowed to operate.
