NPP leaders in the Ashanti Region are accusing national executives of seeking to shift public attention from the flagbearer’s scheduled visit to the region.
Regional Secretary, Samuel Pyne, says a planned launch of party membership cards in Kumasi is mistimed.
Party Chairman, Paul Afoko, is expected to lead a team to outdoor newly- introduced party membership cards in Kumasi on Wednesday.
Mr. Pyne, however, says the regional executives will boycott the programme because they are unaware of it.
Speaking on Nhyira FM’ on Kroyi mu Nsem, Mr. Payne stressed launching of party identity cards cannot take precedence over Nana Akufo Addo’s visit.
“For the first time I’m hearing about this launch is on your station today…how come me the regional secretary who is expected to lead the supposed cards registration is not aware?” he quizzed. “Nana Addo is expected to be in Kumasi as part of his campaign this Wednesday why do we then want to use this issue to divert attention”.
Paul Afoko’s spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei, however says he is shocked at the position of the regional executives.
He says discussions and arrangements on the subject have been on for over a week.
