Construction work has begun on a university for teacher education and 4- star hotel by the Catholic Church in the Ashanti Region.
The Christ the Teacher University College is located at Mfensi on the Kumasi-Sunyani Road, while Christian Village Hotel is sited at Santasi in Kumasi, all in the Ashanti Region.
Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Reverend Gabriel Anokye, said at a sod-cutting ceremony that the two projects will promote Ghana’s education and culture to enhance social economic development.
He stated it would not just be a hotel but a place where the culture of Ashanti Region will be showcased.
Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, Father Louis Kofi Tuffour, says the school will create the opportunity for males just as St. Louis College of Education does for females.
Kumasi Mayor, Osei Asibey Antwi, underscored potential areas for investment within the context of government’s industrialization drive.
He cited the absence of an auditorium of at least 3,000 sitting-capacity for entertainment to enhance tourism and hospitality as a key area to explore.
