In a bid to take full advantage of the automotive industry, the government in the process of developing an Automotive Component Manufacturing Development Policy.
This it believes will attract investments from component manufacturers to feed into the local automotive industry, whilst supplying aftermarket components across the sub-region.
In light of that, Ashok Leyland is seeking to accelerate and break into the top 10 global commercial vehicle market with its new generation phoenix platform.
To this end, the company has assembled its maiden Ashok Leyland Phoenix trucks here in Ghana at Rana Motors assembling plant in Accra.
Speaking to Joy Business at the launch of the new trucks, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Michael Okyere Baafi said the coming on board of Ashok Leyland Phoenix trucks into Ghana’s automotive industry will complement government’s effort of developing an Automotive Component Manufacturing Development policy.
“These companies are doing so well including Rana Motors are working hard as far as the policy is concerned to champion the course of government in the area of automotive development. We are sure within the shortest possible time, Ghana will become the automotive mobile hub in the sub-region”.

On his part, Head, International Operations at Ashok Leyland Rajesh R, said, the assembling of Ashok Leyland Phoenix Trucks in Ghana will afford its business partners a seamless transportation experience.
“Ashok has always been at the forefront of trading technologies for the world and we want to partner with more and more companies across the globe today. And this is the 9th assembling plant for Ashok across the globe today”.

Chief Operating Officer of Rana Motors, Kassem Odaymat, explained to Joy Business what differentiates Ashok Leyland Phoenix from other trucks.
“It’s a tailor-made features that address the diverse needs for our customers. From it’s fuel-efficient engine to its spacious interior, the phoenix is designed to provide optimal performance and comfort, whether it’s for personal use or commercial purposes”.
The Ashok Leyland Phoenix trucks comes with a class leading five years or 500,000 km warranty underscoring the trust in its quality.
