An opposition pressure group has dragged the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia to the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice over conflict of interest allegations.The Coalition for Democratic Forces (CDF) is accusing the NDC scribe of abusing his office by selling blocks to facilitate the building of the Bui Dam despite being a member of the Board of the Bui Dam project.Asiedu Nketiah has vehemently rebutted conflict of interest allegations stating there was no contractual agreement between his block factory and the board for the supply of blocks.He insisted that the sub contractors who bought the blocks from his company for the project did so on their own volition without any compulsion.Mr. Asiedu Nketiah has sued the former CEO of the Bui project, Mr Fred Oware for defamation after he (Oware) brought Nketiah’s block business into the public domain.But the CDF is unperturbed by Nketiah’s suit. Michael Omari Wadie, chairman of the CDF is confident that the NDC scribe has questions to answer for doing business with a board on which he serves.“We are saying there is some conflict of interest so the commission should look at it,” he told Joy News.He said they have petitioned the Commission on Wednesday and expect a verdict in two weeks.According to him, Asiedu Nketiah’s suit at the court is a hasty attempt to postpone their inquisition into his conflict of interest allegations.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
