A delegation from the Executive Presbytery of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, led by the General Superintendent, Rev Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has organized two separate capacity-building conferences for ministers and Christian leaders in The Gambia.

The sessions comprised a specialized workshop for ministers affiliated with The Gambia Assemblies of God Mission and an inter-denominational leadership conference.

The inter-denominational session brought together approximately 250 participants, including church leaders across the broader Gambian Christian community and missionaries from the USA Assemblies of God.

Facilitated by Rev Wengam, the General Secretary of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev Ernest Birikorang, and the General Treasurer, Rev Simon Abu Baba, the sessions centered on core administrative and spiritual themes.

Presentations covered Servant Leadership, The Power of Unity, The Essence of Audacious Faith in Achieving the Leader’s Vision, and The Role of Prayer in Transformational Leadership.

As part of the visit, Rev Wengam and his wife personally sponsored and presented gifts to the participating ministers and their spouses. The male clergy received traditional Ghanaian smocks (fugu), while their spouses were presented with traditional fabric.

Reacting to the initiative, the National Head of The Gambia Assemblies of God Mission, Rev Paul Ampofo Williams, described the impact of the conference and the gifts to the pastors and their wives as "unprecedented."

He noted that the intervention had "inspired and motivated them to do more for the expansion of the Kingdom of God."

The Gambia holds historical significance as the initial foreign mission outpost established by the Assemblies of God, Ghana.

The mission was established approximately three decades ago under the leadership of the late Rev Simon Asore, who was then serving as the General Superintendent of the church in Ghana.
