Two Assembly Members in Nkoranza South district have complained about the activities of a contractor working on the extension of electricity to their electoral areas, saying the project had rather become a threat to the lives of the people.
Mr Victor Ameyaw and Mr Jackson Salifu, assembly members for Dotobaa and Asonkwaa electoral areas respectively, complained to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza.
The assembly members said the failure of the contractor to remove branches of trees he had felled onto the feeder road that linked the two communities had made the road too narrow for vehicles to ply.
They said a woman was killed recently when a branch of a falling tree hit her.
They called on the District Office of the Volta River Authority (VRA), to as a matter of urgency ask the contractor to clear the branches.
Mr. Ameyaw urged the District Office of the Volta River Authority (VRA) to ensure that bushes around tension poles were cleared to protect them from being destroyed by bushfire as the harmattan approached.
