The Effutu Municipal Assembly is to come out with measures that would enhance the celebration of Aboakyer festival with the aim of making it more attractive to tourists to generate revenue for development.
A major activity, which would be modernised as part of the measures would be the masquerades competition, which adds a lot of beauty and excitement to the celebration.
Mr Robert Ekow Ghanney, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, announced this on Monday when he addressed the Assembly in Winneba.
The meeting was used to outline the development plan of the assembly.
He said the Finance and Administration sub-committee of the Assembly has, therefore, been asked to work out the modalities for adoption by the Assembly towards the decision.
Mr Ghanney said the development plan would cover areas such as education, health, agriculture, revenue generation, sports and tourism development.
He said work on the Assembly’s office complex would be expedited to save the trouble of holding Assembly meetings in other institutions’ premises adding that, roofing and partitioning were the things left to be tackled.
The MCE stressed the need to strengthen the various sub-structures of the Assembly in order to boost revenue collection in the localities.
He said the revenue outfit ought to be resourced well to be able to discharge their duties diligently and intelligently, noting that the Assembly would have to explore a number of ways to generate revenue.
He said a safe landing site for Winneba fishermen would be constructed in June this year to improve fishing in the area.
