A Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Assin South in the Central Region, John Ntim Fordjour, commissioned the Assin South District Roads Improvement Program (DRIP) equipment on Tuesday 8th October at Assin Kyinso.

The DRIP programme, launched by the government aims to enhance feeder roads connecting villages and small communities. This initiative addresses road challenges deemed a national security concern.

According to Ntim Fordjour, the programme will utilize equipment such as water tankers, backhoes, motor graders, rollers, tipper trucks, bulldozers, and concrete mixers. All communities in the Assin South will benefit from the project.

“There are some major routes that have already undergone bitumen surfacing and sealing, including the roads from Assin Andoe to Homaho to Edubiase and from Assin Manso to Okyeso to Hasowodze.”

“Additionally, several roads are undergoing bitumen surfacing. However, beyond that, numerous feeder routes connecting villages and small communities still require attention and reshaping.”

The lawmaker expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the initiative.

“We are grateful to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for investing heavily in equipment to reshape our roads,” he said.

“The DRIP programme will significantly improve the livelihoods of our farmers and traders by providing accessible roads for transporting farm produce,” he added.

He emphasised maintaining the equipment to benefit communities and urged residents to reward Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision with a minimum of 80% votes in the constituency.

Nana Anokye Kotoko II, Odikro of Assin Kyinso, praised the DRIP initiative, citing its potential to transform communities. He also urged the electorate to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming election, slated for December 7, 2024.

Residents welcomed the initiative. ”We have struggled with poor roads for years, and we’re grateful for this initiative,” said Madam Akua Mensah, a farmer.

The Assin South District Assembly pledged to maintain the equipment effectively. Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour was accompanied by the Assin South DCE Madam Felicia Ntrakwa Amissah and party executives.
