World 400 metres champion Christine Ohuruogu has accused IAAF president Lamine Diack of ‘not knowing what the hell is going on’ in athletics.
Ohuruogu’s criticism came after Diack said athletics faced a ‘crisis’ over doping allegations.
In an interview with the BBC in the wake of allegations made in a German television documentary about widespread and systematic drug use among Russian athletes, Diack said, “It’s a difficult crisis but we will put it behind us by cleaning all this.”
Ohuruogu, a former Olympic champion who won her second world title in Moscow in 2013, branded the comments ‘uncalled for’.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Ohuruogu said, “It’s very hard to promote our sport when he doesn’t know what the hell is going on.
“I think that kind of sentiment is uncalled for. Even if he felt that way personally he should have kept that private.”
