The Executive Council of African Union (AU) has ordered investigations into Daniel Batidam’s resignation and allegations of corruption within its anti-graft body.
Chairperson of the AU Advisory Board on Corruption, Begoto Miarom says the investigation into Mr. Batidam’s allegations began in September.
“The first decision taken to investigate the corruption allegations was to do a performance audit which began last September and the AU is waiting for the report on that investigation,” he told Manasseh Azure Awuni, on the sidelines of the 18th International Anti-Corruption Conference currently underway in Copenhagen, Demark.

Begoto Miarom added that “all organs under the African Union will be subjected to an audit.”
Daniel Batidam, a former advisor to President John Mahama on corruption, resigned from the AU Advisory Board on Corruption in June 2018, accusing the body of abuse of trusted power, corruption, lack of probity, accountability, transparency, and integrity.
Speaking on PM Express on June 21, Mr. Batidam revealed he took the decision to prompt the AU Commission to take urgent action to deal with the malfeasance at the continental body.
