The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo has decried reckless spending of the taxpayer’s money by state officials.
In an interaction with JoyNews’ Evans Mensah, Domelevo lamented that there are too many procurement irregularities in government institutions.
“People buy just for buying [sake] and not because they need it,” he bemoaned, adding that to some officials, value for money is just buying an item at a good bargain and not that the good is necessary.

His comments come after allegations of corruption and conflict of interest have been labelled against the CEO of the Public Procurement Authority, Adjenim Boateng Adjei.
His company, Talent Discovery Limited was only incorporated in 2017 but has since won a lot of contracts.
More disturbing, TDL does not execute the contracts but rather sells them to the highest bidder.
