Augustine Okrah has been overwhelmed by the response he has received after the spectacular goal he scored last night.Okrah’s rabona came in his Sudanese club Al Merreikh’s 2-0 triumph over Merreikh Kosti.
Shortly after the goal, social media was awash with videos and praises for the prolific striker.
In an exclusive interview with Joy Sports, Okrah says his phone has not stopped buzzing.
“They have been telling me this goal is crazy. I can’t even turn my phone off, people have been calling me non-stop asking me how I did it.”
“Even my mother says she has not seen anything like that before. And I told her she should keep praying for me. This goal is not from me, it’s from God.”
The former Bechem United forward has attributed his hard work over the past few weeks to constant practice and watching his football idols.
“I have been watching Messi and Ronaldo and I have been learning a lot from them.”
A rabona can be described as a method of kicking the ball whereby the kicking leg is wrapped around the back of the standing leg—effectively with one's legs crossed.
Okrah was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of 2013/2014 Ghana league season.
