President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Samson Deen, has advised the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to steer clear of political interference in his new role.
During a courtesy call at the NSA headquarters in Accra, Deen cautioned against allowing political biases to affect key decisions, warning that such influences could hinder the identification of competent individuals within the sector who could help the NSA boss succeed in his new role.
“People will come to you and try to define others who are from the other government. Don’t allow them,” Mr Deen said.
“You are here to serve the people of Ghana, to develop sports, and to be seen as the person who can transform the sector.
"Those who came to me with political motives will come to you too. If you listen to them, you will miss the chance to work with the best.”
Deen also noted that Mr Ankrah is one of the youngest individuals to hold the position and pledged his support to help him succeed.
“Compared to your predecessors, you are the youngest. That comes with both a challenge and an opportunity. We are here to support you and help you succeed,” he added.
Mr Ankrah was recently appointed Director General of the NSA, taking over leadership of the agency responsible for overseeing the development and promotion of sports in Ghana.
