As part of its 12th-anniversary celebrations, Africa World Airlines (AWA), a major player in Ghana’s aviation industry, has launched an initiative to support street children and physically challenged individuals.
This gesture reflects the airline’s commitment to improving societal welfare.

At an event in the heart of Accra, AWA distributed essential supplies such as food, beverages, water, clothing, and footwear to those in need.
According to the company, this initiative represents the direction they plan to take over the next decade.

Christabel Amegayigbor, the Head of HR at AWA, explained the motivation behind the program.
“As we celebrate 12 years of flight operations in Ghana, we wanted to give back to society. We thought of no one better than the street children, whom we see every day.
"Many of our staff contributed their own previously worn clothes, and today we’ve provided food, drinks, water, and clothing to those from Niima, Mamobi, and beyond,” she said.

Mrs Amegayigbor also confirmed that this initiative will become an annual part of AWA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
“We’ve faced many challenges over the years, but we’re still here. This celebration is for everyone, and we wanted to include the community in our success.

"In previous years, we focused on our customers, but this year, we wanted to give back to the community we’ve been part of for 12 years,” said Joselyn Andoh, AWA’s Brand and Corporate Communications Manager, explaining the decision to mark the milestone with community support.
