Deputy Minister of Communications, Nenyi George Andah, has charged health workers, journalists and the security personnel to intensify education on the Covid-19 diseases in his constituency, Awutu Senya West.
According to him, the increase in surveillance, by these major stakeholders, will ensure that the Awutu Senya West District, one of the areas affected by the lockdown does not record a coronavirus case.
The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West explains that even though his constituency is not affected by the lockdown, the probability of carriers of the Covid-19 to run to his constituency is high because of the proximity of the constituency to other areas that have recorded cases of Covid-19.
George Andah said this when he handed over hospital items: refrigerators, deds, sanitizers, washing soups, hundreds of Veronica Buckets, tables and chairs to all institutions in the Awutu Senya West District worth GHS100,000.
Speaking to Joynews after presenting the items, the Awutu Senya West Legislator called on the those who are not part of the lockdown to also obey the president’s admonition to stay at home to reduce the spread of the virus.
“Even though the Awutu Senya West is not under lockdown, I suggest the people here stay home to limit the spread of the virus. If you don’t move, the virus does not move,” he explained.
Awutu Senya West District Health Director, Patricia Antwi, gave the assurance that her outfit is going to distribute the items given to them by the Member of Parliament.
She revealed that they have teamed up with the Information Services Department to sensitise and educate the people in the area to observe basic hygiene rules.
“We will send the sanitizers, the veronica buckets, other items to the health centres and CHIPS zones to help them deliver better health care services. Just follow the Ministry of Health’s guidelines and it shall be well. Exercise, drink a lot of water above all, try to stay at home,” she advised.
Awutu Senya West DCE, Stephen Kwame Quaye also advised driver Unions within the area to help combat the disease since everyone is affected.
