Constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress in Ayawaso Central are accusing the sitting Member of Parliament Sheikh I.C. Quaye of plotting to assassinate his political opponents. Constituency Secretary, Victor Quarshie Adornu at a press conference on Thursday also accused the MP of being notorious for threats and other violent attacks on critics. His accusations follow violent incidents in which properties said to be owned by Sheikh Quaye and his brother were destroyed early this week. The MP at a press conference on Monday accused some NDC supporters in the constituency of being behind the destruction, an allegation which has been rubbished by members of the NDC. The NDC executives have dissociated the party from the destruction, pointing rather to a long standing ‘family war’. On Thursday however the NDC executives insist they have picked vital information to show the assassination plots by the MP and all other plans to cause mayhem. In a subsequent interview with Joy News, the Constituency Secretary Mr Adornu said they are ready to expose the violent conducts of the sitting MP. When asked to provide evidence for his allegations he said the party is in close touch with police and are not obliged to make it public. But I.C. Quaye has denied the allegations. He said he has never attacked any of his political opponents let alone to plot an assassination. He said he and his family have been victims of unfounded and wild allegations, one of which led to shock and eventual passing away of his mother.
