Zamalek new boy Ibrahim Ayew of Ghana will undergo knee surgery next week, according to the Cairo club.
Zamalek revealed that Ayew is suffering from cartilage damage and will have an operation in Egypt next week.
Ayew, son of legend Abedi Pele, suffered the injury while playing for his former club Eleven Wise during a league game last month.
The 23-year-old is expected to be out for at least one month, which means he could be ready for the start of the season on August 5th.
The injury prevented him from joining the Ghana national team - the Black Stars - in their World Cup qualifier against Mali two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Zamalek have announced that the first team will fly to Portugal soon for the pre-season camp.
