Kweku Baako Jnr, Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, says he regrets that Nana Akomea allowed himself to be provoked to the extent of using intemperate language on radio.
Nana Akomea, Communications Director of the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former minister referred to Deputy Tourism Minister James
Agyenim-Boateng as a stupid fool in response to comments made by James suggesting that he is unintelligent.
The incident happened on Joy FM's news analysis programme Newsfile Saturday.
All attempts by the host to get them retract and apologise proved futile.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM Monday, Mr Kweku Baako, who was also a panelist on the programme, described the incident as unfortunate, saying it could have been avoided.
He said Nana Akomea, by his pedigree, should have withdrawn his comment and apologized for the sake of the sanctity of the show and respect for listeners.
Kweku Baako stated that though Nana Akomea was provoked by the manner in which James went about his submission, he "went to the extreme by being categorical, using a high flown word like stupid fool."
"That's not [the] Akomea that I know," Baako said adding "…He's a very cool, collected person; one of the most effective communicators the NPP have had for a long time."
Nana Akomea's reputation, Baako regret ted, could be marred by this incident since people may think that is his character.
"That's not Akomea, he's very very gentle and a very well organised communicator," the editor added, saying that it was unfortunate Akomea allowed himself to be drawn into such a controversy.
