A baby girl was abandoned in a bush close to a public place of convenience at Kade in the Kwaebibirem District on Tuesday morning.
The baby was discovered when an elderly woman who was visiting the public facility heard the baby crying.
She informed the supervisor of the place who, together with his wife, took the baby to the Kade Police Station where they advised that the baby be taken to the Kade Health Centre.
At the centre, her umbilical chord was cut and was referred to the St. Dominic's Hospital at Akwatia.
Dr K. A. Oduro of the hospital attended to the baby and said she was in a stable condition.
Kade Police are looking for the mother of the baby and have appealed for information that would lead to her arrest.
