Farmers in Sefwi, a leading cocoa growing community, have complained about the deplorable state of roads linking their farms to the townships. The President of the Ghana Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GAFF), Nana Kwaw Otoo told Adom fm that the situation has become unbearable for many farmers, in and around the Sefwi community. Mr. Otoo appealed to government to save the situation by providing the township with good roads in order to save the situation. According to him, the Sefwi community is one of the leading producers of cocoa in the country and the provision of good roads there would go a long way of easing some of the difficulties farmers face. "Comparing Sefwi's roads to that of neighboring towns, there is a vast difference in terms of quality and it would serve a very meaningful purpose if roads in the Sefwi surroundings are rehabilitated in order to cart more cocoa from the farms which would benefit the nation." Reacting to government's pledge to provide farmers with tricycles, the GAFF president said he has not received any word till date concerning the development. He added that the Ministry of agriculture has not even informed him on the price of the tricycles, let alone when they are supposed to receive them. With respect to this, he called on the ministry to remove any impediments stalling the transfer of the cycles to the association and ensure that the cycles arrive early to serve its cause.
