”‹Movie and Music producer, Ahmed Banda was also known as Bandex has thrown tantrums at executives of Audiovisual Society of Ghana (ASOG) for diverting money meant for paying royalties to actors into capacity building.

According to him, ASOG has over the years refused to pay to actors their royalties but have been diverting the money into organizing capacity building workshops, a move he describes as unacceptable.

His comment comes on the back of continuous cry by some veteran actors about what they describe as the unfair treatment meted out to them by some industry players.

Some of them, including ace actor Kwadawo Dadson of 'Home Sweet Home' fame, have complained that they feel neglected since he left the limelight because no money is given to them monthly for their upkeep in spite of their long year’s service in the movie industry.

The 60-year-old actor said he expects veterans like him would be given some amount of money monthly to as a sign of appreciation for their long years of servitude.

The lasted to join the league of aggrieved veteran actors is William Addo who has also accuse executives of ASOG of using the monies meant for them (actors) for building mansions, an accusation a board member of ASOG, Socrates Sarfo has refuted.

Speaking on Hitz Entertainment Review on Hitz FM, Socrates Sarfo conceded that monies received from various television stations as royalties for performers including actors, TV presenters among other television personalities has not been paid over the years.

According to Mr Safo, explained that about 23 percent of the money they receive from TV stations as royalties are given to the Ghana Actors’ Guild for capacity building.

He explained that the decision to decision to divert the money was taken by the board because they could not locate the actors to pay them.

The controversial film producer said that they are more than willing to give the money to the actors when they (actors) approach them (ASOG) for their money.

But Bandex believe that diversion of royalties is illegal and should be condemned. He opined that royalties are paid for ones intellectual property so it will be improper for anyone to divert the money into any other venture irrespective of the good intentions the person may have for doing so.
