The reining African Boxing Union Light Heavyweight champion, Bukom Banku, fights tonight in a special eight round contest against Mohammed Bameyi.
The fight is a warm up bout for Banku’s first international bout against Australia's Danny Green at the end of the month.
Banku was cleared at the last minute to fight tonight after being initially declared unfit by the chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority's medical committee.
Dr S.A Quaye raised issues about Banku's eyesight and warned that he could go blind if he continued to fight.
But after much protestation from Banku's camp, the doctor backed down and gave him the green light to fight.
The main bouts on the bill tonight will feature Ghana's Kpakpo Allotey against Gabriel Phakula of South Africa for the WBA Pan African Lightweight title.
Another Ghanaian, Lartei Lartey fights Kaizer Mabuza in an ABU Light Welterweight championship.
