Rev. George Owusu-Mensah, the Head Pastor of Grace Baptist Church at Amakom in Kumasi and composer of the popular gospel song M’atwen Awurade Anim (“A Wait on God”), has passed away.
He died at dawn on Sunday, as confirmed by Rev. Mrs. Mary Fosu, Senior Associate Pastor of the church.
As both a minister and a gospel musician, Rev. Owusu-Mensah dedicated his life to offering his congregation spiritual guidance, counselling, and leadership.

Through his music, he expressed his deep faith and spread messages of hope, love, and redemption.
His song, M’atwen Awurade Anim, continues to resonate within the Christian community, inspiring optimism and steadfast faith.
Known for uplifting lyrics, soulful melodies, and heartfelt performances, Rev. Owusu-Mensah’s music served as a tool for evangelism, outreach, and community building.
He performed at church services and events, sharing his message of faith with a wide audience.

Rev. George Owusu-Mensah was the elder brother of Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST and father of Kofi Owusu Peprah, who is also a gospel musician.
