Bastiat Ghana, a liberal economic think tank, is organising a 2nd Business Development conference in Accra on the theme: "Establishing pragmatic module to build confidence between the SMEs and the financial sector of Ghana’s economy."
The event scheduled for the British Council on November 14, from 9:00am – 12:00pm, would feature international award winning and young scholars such as Paul Frimpong, Ghanaian Chartered Economist and Emmanuel Oduro-Afriyie, an SMEs financing specialist.
A statement issued by Dr. Tweneboah Senzu, Managing Director of Bastiat Ghana, said: “Our conference is always made free and accessible to all business men and women who want to make a change with their ventures to the benefit of Ghana’s economy.”
It said the conference for small and medium scale enterprises was reached because statistics justify that, the business market of Africa is dominated by the youth and therefore should be in best capacity to address the challenges they faced.
It said 43 per cent of African population is below 15 years. 1/3 of its population is aged 10 to 24 years.
The statement said: “Sub Saharan Africa is the only region of the world in which the number of its young people continues to grow substantially. By 2025 the number of the young people is expected to increase to 436 million and it is further projected to 605 million by 2050.
“So without addressing the special needs of the young, it stands to create significant risk and threat to social cohesion and political stability, if Africa fails to create sufficient economic and quality employment opportunities to support them.
“So all our effort as an Institute is to make sure our platform will address the economic challenges of Africa through it youth.”
The statement said some of the reasons why the youth should be part of the conference is that for their future to be guaranteed with decent economic life style, it would not occur miraculously “but will be as a result of principled effort put in place to achieve that”.
They would be joined by like- minded people who are ready to network and partner to build a guaranteed and secured wealthy life, which is near to impossible to achieve as an individual in Africa.
“It is a movement that understands the future of the African youth very well through well guided established research papers and devised strategies to secure the future of its youth from the unforeseen occurrences that always take the leaders of Africa by surprise.
“In this forum you have the ability to ask questions and share ideas to build stronger friendship bonds to empower the growth of individual ventures,” it said.
