The Managing Editor of the Al Hajj newspaper Alhaji Iddrisu Bature has stated he will not be surprised if most of the incumbent Members of Parliament perceived to be Alan Kyerematen supporters lose their seats in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).According to him, the National Executives of the party have made a conscious effort to ensure that only pro Nana Akufo-Addo aspirants win the upcoming parliamentary primaries. The opposition NPP will on Saturday, April 30, hold its primaries across the country to elect parliamentary candidates for Election 2012 but there have been reports of intimidation of supposed Alan Kyerematen supporters in some constituencies of the party. It is also alleged that the flag bearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo supports some candidates against others; something he has come out to deny.Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Alhaji Bature explained that, the problems in some constituencies in relation to the primaries indicate that the Alan-Akufo-Addo factions still exists in the party.Citing Dr.Richard Anane, Maxwell Kofi Jumah and Fredrick Opare Ansah incumbent Members of Parliament perceived to be “Alan boys”, he noted that despite their contributions to the party, they are being fiercely contested by the pro Nana Akufo-Addo candidates.Alhaji Bature however took a swipe at Nana Akufo-Addo for not ensuring unity in the party knowing that should he lose the election 2012; it could end his political career.“Why would you want to have a divided political party; why would you want to have a divided house and Nana is pretending as if he is not aware”? he lamented. He admonished the NPP to put their house in order to ensure that it is focused and united to face the National Democratic Congress in the 2012 elections.Meanwhile, a Deputy Communications Director of the NPP John Boadu also panelist on the programme rubbished Alhaji Bature claims stating that a level playing field has been created for all the candidates. He added that the parliamentary elections would be free, fair and transparent.Story by Adwoa Gyasiwaa/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
