The ban on the use of motorbikes in Bawku in the Upper East Region is still in place. This is contrary to earlier report by myjoyonline.com that the ban has been lifted. The ban was imposed by the Upper East Regional Security Council to curb the spate of violent killing between the Kusasis and Mamprusis. However, the Member of Parliament for Binduri, Hon. Stephen Yakubu is advocating for the lifting of the ban in order to improve what he says is the stalling of social and economic activities as a result of the ban on the use of motorbikes.Sentiments however remain mixed. Some residents who spoke to Joy FM will rather have the ban in place in order to protect their dear lives.According to them, the killing has reduced drastically ever since the ban was imposed three weeks ago.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
