Running mate to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has presented 250 dual desks for 500 pupils at the Kperisi primary school in the Upper West Region.
The Kperisi M.A. Primary School made the news last week after Joy News' Rafiq Salam reported that the pupils were laid on the bare classroom floor to write because they don't have furniture to sit on.

The pupils could not hold their joy when the desks were presented to them
The headmistress said the pupils don’t only get waist pains as a result but also catch a cold which always land them in the hospital.

Following this report, Dr Bawumia visited the Kperisi M.A. Primary School where he took photographs with the pupils and some teachers of the school.
He promised to provide desks for the pupils.

Presenting the desks on his behalf, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Wa Central, Alhaji Issahaku Tahiru said it was unfortunate that the pupils had to go through such difficult situation.
He also lashed out at current MP Rashid Pelpuo for ignoring the needs of his constituent.

“If he was an up and doing MP and someone who can take care of his people, this problem would have been longed solved. But he has not been able to do it because of his inefficiency and ineptitude. He has not given any serious attention to education."
“This gesture shown by Dr Bawumia is an epitome of what the NPP will do for the entire nation and Wa Central in particular,” he said.
