New Patriotic Party running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a surprise visit to the Central Regional to fraternize and pray with fellow Muslims in activities marking the last days of their month long Ramadan fast.The Vice-Presidential candidate of the NPP while in Cape Coast visited and prayed in a number of Mosques in the municipality and also did few and quick stopovers in particular Zongo Communities interacting with the inhabitants on general issues of concern to the communities.Dr. Bawumia first visited the Adisadel Mosque where he joined worshippers for the afternoon Zuhr prayers.The Imam of the Mosque, in welcoming Dr. Bawumia and his team, expressed delight in being joined by the team. He said “I am very glad that today, we have been joined by our own brother Dr. Bawumia and his team. It is always a joy when brothers of the faith join us to share the peace and good news of Allah and I welcome you with great appreciation”.
Speaking briefly to the worshippers, Dr. Bawumia stated “I decided to come here today to the Central Region to fraternize with and receive prayers from my siblings and elders in the faith especially as we are still in the sacred month long Ramadan fast. All I can do is to urge all of us to remain steadfast especially as we are about to end our fast and to hold on strongly to the virtues of our faith.”Dr. Bawumia also visited the Ayiko-Ayikoo Mosque for the Asr prayers where he requested for the prayers of fellow Muslims for the Nation, for former President Mills and his family, and for peace as the country prepares for the December 2012 General Election. The excitement of the congregation after the prayer was palpable as everyone reached out for a handshake and photo opportunity.The Imam and malams promised to remember the team in their prayers every day.To round off the visit to the Municipality, Dr. Bawumia and his team joined the Tafsir at the Cape Coast Central Mosque in the early evening and also partook in the Magrib Prayers at the same Mosque.The NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate also visited a few Zongo communities around Ayiko-Ayikoo and the Kotokuraba Market as well as the Zamarma Community around the Central Mosque.En-route to Cape Coast, Dr. Bawumia stopped over at Winneba where he visited the Chief Imam and Zongo Chief of Winneba who offered prayers for his success.Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was accompanied by a number of dignitaries including former Vice – President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Sheik T. D. Damba, NPP Vice- Chairman, Boniface Abubakar Siddique, former Minister under the Kufour Administration, Mohammed Amin Anta, a former Metropolitan Chief Executive at the Tamale Metropolis, Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson to NPP Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and a couple of others.
