Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has departed Accra for Mecca in Saudi Arabia on Friday to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.
Accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, they will join thousands of Ghanaians and millions of Muslims around the world in performing this year’s Hajj.
Performing Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and fulfils one of the conditions for total submission to the will of Allah.
The office of the Dr Bawumia said, while on the pilgrimage, the Vice President will use the spiritual exercise to pray for the nation and its citizens.
He is expected to return on August 27.
