The 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has described Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s most marketable and competent presidential candidate.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Dr. Opoku Prempeh praised Dr Bawumia’s forward-looking ideas, noting that they are well-suited for the challenges of the 21st century.
“My support for Bawumia is based on competence, experience, and track record. No first-time presidential candidate from the NPP has demonstrated such depth,” he said. “Ghanaians believe that the NPP is the only party capable of fixing the country’s challenges and making Ghana better. That is one of the reasons I support Bawumia.”
Dr Opoku Prempeh described the former vice president as “an apprentice who has become a master,” highlighting his rise through the ranks and his deep understanding of governance at every level.
He also pointed to Dr Bawumia’s intellect, visibility, and policy initiatives, particularly in the area of digitalisation, emphasising that his programmes have already delivered tangible impacts.
“He embodies the idea of an apprentice who has become a master. He has worked through the ranks and is currently the most appealing and recognisable candidate. Bawumia possesses the knowledge and intellect needed for leadership.
Even before becoming president, he rolled out numerous initiatives, and his focus on technology is already transforming the country. He represents our best chance for the future with ideas that are suited for the 21st century,” Dr Opoku Prempeh added.
