Owusu Bempah an aide to Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has castigated Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Ben Ephson for what he describes as the peddling of falsehoods on the former First Lady.
He says Nana Konadu has not publicly announced any decision to contest the flagbearship position for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), and therefore does not understand why the many publications by the Daily Dispatch which for him cast a slur on the former first lady.
Mr Owusu Bempah was speaking in an interview with ADOM FM’s Adakabre Frimpong Manso on a growing controversy on the ambition of the former First Lady to oust President Mills to lead the NDC to the 2012 general elections as the flag bearer.
While denying any complexities in the whole drama by the Former First lady, Mr. Owusu Bempah took a swipe at the Daily Dispatch Editor of carrying out a mischievous agenda being propelled by certain individuals he called the “paying masters”.
In the Wednesday’s the 20th edition of the Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson sought to set the records straight with a publication under the heading “When Nana Konadu declared-I will help Mills to win.”
The republication of the February 25th, 2000 story also made a reference to a last Monday edition of the Dispatch which indicated that despite the fact that the choice of Prof. Mills was a foregone conclusion, a group known as the Konadu for President 2000 had indicated that unless they were given a quota to nominate women candidates, they will put forward the former First Lady’s name to enable delegates at the Ho congress at Ho choose between her and the Vice President.
However Nana Konadu’s Aide, who sounded very unhappy about the turn of events, said Ben Ephson will not achieve anything with his numerous publications about the Former First Lady, hence should desist from the practice as indeed Nana Konadu has not declared publicly anywhere to contest the presidential slot.
He said Ben Ephson has no business poking his nose into affairs of the former First Lady let alone talk about whether or not she will contest the NDC’s flag bearership position, denying categorically all issues raised by the Daily Dispatch on the ambitions of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Mr. Owusu Bempah did not mince words to say that the various publications by the Daily Dispatch smack of settling of personal scores between Ben Ephson and the former First Lady – a situation he finds it difficult to understand.
