The Central Region Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe has cautioned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) that the government will not tolerate any kind of misdemeanours as well as other corrupt practices on their part.
The Minister sounded the caution when she swore in 16 confirmed MMDCEs, including four women, out of the 17 assemblies in the region in Cape Coast.
The President is yet to nominate a new person for Gomoa East, after its assembly rejected outright, Mr. Theophilus Ampah, when he polled only nine of the 30 votes cast.
Madam Benyiwa-Doe also reminded them that, the people will demand satisfaction and nothing else and it behoves them to ensure that they brought development to their doorsteps and not to only carry out their political functions.
She also urged the MMDCEs to strategize and step up revenue generation in their districts and appealed to assembly members and all other stakeholders to assist the chief executives in the performance of their duties to facilitate their success because they are at the grassroots.
Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Oguaamanhen advised them to relate well with all manner of people they come into contact with and reminded them that their performance will determine whether they would be endorsed by the people after their first term in office.
Mr. Peter Light Koomson, DCE for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, on behalf of his colleagues said even though the task ahead them was onerous, they will execute it to the best of their abilities by making use of all the state resources available to them and also eschew discrimination.
He thanked the President and the people for the confidence reposed in them.
The four women among them were Madam Aba Edusah, Abura-Asebu Kwamankese (AAK); Mrs Sabina Appiah Kubi, Assin South; Mrs Georgina Nkrumah-Aboah, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) and Reverend Veronica Azuma Nelson, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA).
