Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Betty Mould-Iddrisu, has described as disheartening and disturbing, suggestions that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has done nothing since assuming office two years ago.She says such comments are only propagandist tools meant to steal the conscience of the people who are themselves witnesses to development projects in their respective districts.Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu has told Nhyira FM that Prof Mills’ government has performed creditably in all sectors, whilst trying to clean the mess left by the previous NPP administration.Ghana’s first woman Attorney-General is on a two-day working tour of the Afigya-Kwabre District where she has been inspecting on-going projects and commissioning completed ones.At a durbar of chiefs and people of Apagya, she advised parents to take keen interest in the education of their girl-children. She also cut sod for the construction of a 9-kilometer Atimatim-Maase road.Mrs. Mould–Iddrisu admitted that the past two years have been challenging for the NDC, but dismissed claims that the government has failed to perform to the expectation of Ghanaians."Yes it is true the past two years have been difficult for us… mainly because of problems NPP left us." According to Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu, it took the NDC government several weeks to solve problems NPP left in office."It took us a long time to solve the problems we were left with national debt - we were not even aware of the exact amount of budget deficit NPP left. In my own ministry judgment debt and huge amounts of debt we had to incur as people sued us.""….We had to pay huge debts (incurred) during NPP time, so many contracts were abrogated and we had to pay ….so we used the first year to understand the problems and find solutions to the problems so that we lay foundations in year two so you will see developments in year three" she assured.She said the government was seeking to introduce modern technology to drive Ghana’s economic growth and cited the acquisition of FPSO Kwame Nkrumah for the oil drilling and construction of 20,000 housing units to be ready at the end of 2012.According to her, about 4,000 Ghanaians would be given employment opportunities as contracts will be sub-contracted to Ghanaians.Story by: Ohemeng Tawiah/Nhyira Fm/Kumasi-Ghana
