The Public Relations Officer for Bibiani Gold Stars, Samuel Kwagyire, has confirmed that former Black Stars’ Assistant Coach, Maxwell Konadu has been approached to take over from Frimpong Manso.
Frimpong Manso who led the team to their first league title in history last May was shockingly sacked after the club’s 2-0 defeat to JS Kabylie on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of their CAF Champions League first preliminary round tie.
Manso’s assistant, Nana Yaw Amankwah will now lead the return leg in Algeria on Sunday.
Speaking to Luv FM, Samuel indicated that the club aims to make a well-informed decision that aligns with the team's future business plans.
He said while Konadu has been contacted, other coaches are under review.
“Management are on it to make sure that at the end of the day, they make a firm decision as to who is to take over from Coach Frimpong Manso. The assistant coach [Nana Yaw Amankwah] should be the person to take over to make sure that the team work hard and train very well ahead of the second leg at JS Kabylie.
“Once we have a vacant position for the coaching job, definitely most of the coaches would like to occupy this position, and that has had it had to do with management decision."
“But then management would like to go through a full list of coaches to make sure that the end of the day, they make a good choice. The coach that fits into the future business plan of the team, Coach Maxwell, name has been mentioned, but then also have several coaches whose names are also on the table that management are going to finalize on one,” he said.
