NEW YORK (AFP) – Former US president Bill Clinton is ready to catch World Cup fever and plans to cheer on the US team against Algeria in Pretoria, South Africa, his New York-based foundation said on Tuesday.
After attending the match on Wednesday, Clinton will visit Tanzania and Malawi to check on humanitarian and education projects launched there by his foundation, it said in a statement.
Clinton was named honorary chair of the committee to bring the FIFA World Cup to the United States in 2018 or 2022.
"Clinton will continue to be involved in promoting the USA bid's cause in the months leading to the final decision in December," it said.
