Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, are yet to receive their per diems from their last FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying matches against Tunisia.

The Princesses secured an emphatic 4-0 aggregate victory over the North Africans to advance to the next round of the qualifiers. However, despite their impressive showing, the players and technical team remain unpaid for their efforts.

Earlier this month, the Minister of Sports and Recreation acknowledged the delay, assuring that the payments would be processed soon. But weeks on, the team is still awaiting the funds.

According to Joy Sports sources, the players received GHS 500 stipend each from the Ghana Football Association as a way to offset the financial burden on them during the national assignment.

Despite assurances from the Technical Director at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Betty Krosbi Mensah, that all allowances and per diems have been paid, members of the playing body and technical team say they are yet to receive the funds.

The situation has raised questions among sections of the football fraternity, especially as the senior men’s team, the Black Stars, have already received their per diems and bonuses following their recent victories over the Central African Republic and Comoros in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Princesses are expected to resume camp in the coming weeks as preparations continue for the next phase of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will face South Africa in February in the third round of the competition.
