South Africa based defender Awal Mohammed is among the first batch of players to arrive for Ghana’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on Sunday.
The youngster touched down in Accra last Sunday and will gear up for the team’s first training session on Tuesday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The central defender has been consistent for his side Maritzburg United who lie 5th on the league table after 20 matches have a point build up of 28 points.
The 24-year-old will be chasing his second senior national team appearance after playing the entire 90 minutes against Mali in the third place game in the AFCON 2013 in South Africa.
The former Asante Kotoko player is in to solve Ghana’s problematic central midfield problems.
Awal began his career with the Feyenoord Academy. On 10 July 2010, he joined ASEC Mimosas on loan. After his return in November 2010 to Feyenoord Academy.
