BlackBerry recently confirmed that it’s no longer going to make its own handsets but the company is not completely bowing out of the handset market. It’s going to outsource production to third-party manufacturers and launch the handsets under its brand. The BlackBerry DTEK50 is the result of one such collaboration and the DTEK60 is going to be the second. BlackBerry has now listed the specs of this unannounced handset on its website.
There have been multiple leaks over the past couple of weeks suggesting that the DTEK60 is going to be BlackBerry’s next handset. We’ve even seen leaked renders of this device so it’s not like the smartphone will come as a complete surprise when it’s formally announced.
Someone at BlackBerry appears to have jumped the proverbial gun on publishing the specs page of the DTEK60. The page’s URL even had the appendix “donotpublish” which is why it was taken down soon after it went live.
The page revealed that BlackBerry’s upcoming handset is powered by a QualcommSnapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. It also features a 21 megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording and an 8 megapixel front camera.
Powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the DTEK60 is going to feature BlackBerry’s suite of productivity apps as well as a USB Type-C port, NFC, ac Wi-Fi and a 3,000mAh battery.
No word as yet on pricing and availability. Like it did with the DTEK50, BlackBerry is most likely going to announce this device via a press release in the coming weeks.
