Member of Parliament for Aburi-Nsawam, Osei Bonsu Amoah is blaming the challenges being encountered in the ongoing biometric voters’ registration exercise on poor public education carried out by the Electoral Commission.
The MP said the EC left the education on the exercise to political parties, a situation he believes contributed to the numerous confusions that have characterized the exercise at various registration centers.
He however conceded that though the Electoral Commission tried to explain the process to the voting public, it was not enough to efficiently inform them.
He was contributing to discussions on “Minority Caucus”, a political discussion programme on Multi TV.
He therefore wants the Electoral Commission to intensify public education especially in rural and peri-urban communities where illiteracy is low.
