A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe says the Minority in Parliament should be blamed for the inexperienced and mediocre ministers and their deputies in government.He argued if the Minority MPs had participated in the vetting process, many of the nominees would not have been passed."The fact that our own MPs are not taking part in certain things in Parliament is very worrying and as such if we end up with bad ministers and deputies, the fault should be laid squarely on them" he said.The NPP MPs boycotted the Appointment Committee of Parliament in support of their party’s challenge of the 2012 presidential election results.The Minority has vowed not to participate in anything that will legitimize the mandate of President John Mahama.Their action attracted a lot of condemnation from the public who argued that they are not in Parliament to represent their party but their constituents.Several appeals for them to take part in Ministerial vetting has fallen on deaf ears.On Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe opined that the stance taken by the Minority will have grave repercussions on Ghana's development.He indicated the absence of Minority MPs on the Appointments Committee has given the majority the leeway to approve ‘incompetent’ people to hold high position in the country."I know if our people [Minority MPs] are there some of these ministers and deputies will not pass through the mill. We have very good MPs who will do their research and ask the relevant questions which will disqualify a lot of them".Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe maintained that the boycott of the Appointment Committee was a bad decision taken by the NPP.
