Medeama has written formally to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) seeking compensations for what they term as a breach of contract by their former coach and assistant Samuel Boadu and Hamza Obeng respectively.
This news was confirmed to Nhyira 104.5 FM Power Sports by Patrick Akoto who is the Communications Manager of the Premier League club.
“The decision by Samuel Boadu to depart was premature, hasty, arbitrary, it is unacceptable and above all abuse of office as an employee. We have reported Boadu to the GFA to seek a residual value as far as the contract is concerned.
We feel the manner they left has caused irreparable harm and a lot of psychological damage to the club. We have referred various authorities required, that FIFA and CAF have adjudicated on, including the GFA that spells out the ramifications of taking a unilateral decision to terminate an agreement," Akoto stated.
Boadu and Obeng currently work together as head coach and assistant respectively at Hearts of Oak. Boadu tendered in his resignation after Medeama beat Eleven Wonders 2-0 at Techiman in the league on Wednesday, 24 February 2021.
The Yellow and Mauves scribe says the unpleasant manner in which Boadu communicated his exit has warranted the decision to complain to the GFA.
“It was extremely inappropriate for Samuel Boadu to tender in resignation on a pitch after a match without even an unplanned explanation after a game after he was employed to sign documents in an office. We will not allow it to slide.”
Medeama are confident of having their grievances heard and duly addressed.
They are sixth on the table with 27 points, six adrift of league leaders Great Olympics.
