Board of Directors and Chief Executives of State Owned Enterprises, SOE's have signed this year"s performance contract with government.
Under the agreement SOE’s must among other things submit documents for auditing; pay the correct dividends to government and complete targeted projects on time.
In all, 30 SOE’s including Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC signed the agreement.
The Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, in a message asked SOE Boards of Directors and Management to make optimum use of both human and material resources and cut down on waste and losses.
He agreed though, that most SOE’s have collapsed, liquidated or divested owing to mismanagement and lack of planning.
Mr. Baah Wiredu urged SOE’s to use the right method and procedures to complete projects on time.
The Executive Chairman of the State Enterprises Commission, Frank Ocran appealed to government to make infrastructure and equipment available to SOE’s so they can in turn work effectively and produce better results.
Mr. Ocran emphatically called on government to promote SOE’s by providing adequate ICT at work places, since working with good equipment and materials in an enabling environment is essential.
