Residents of Bomigo , an island in the Shime area of the Keta municipality can now heave a sigh of relief after many years of calling on authorities to build a health centre for the community.
According to them many have died, especially pregnant women in labour, because there was no health centre at the time.
Residents had to always cross the river to Anyanui in order to access health care.
The health centre was provided by 'The Young Shall Grow' an NGO headquartered in Woe in the Keta municipality.

The NGO also has many branches outside the country.
In an interview with the executive director of the NGO, Seva Vordzorgbey, he said he realized the people had no health center when he first visited the community eight years ago and so decided to put up the facility for them.
He therefore urged anyone touched by the plight of the Bomigo people to also come their aid by assisting to provide some other social amenities.
The Keta Municipal Health Director Dr Andrew Ayim commended the organization for their kind gesture and tasked other individuals and organizations to follow their foot steps
Bomigo is a beautiful island with a population of about a 1,000.
The only way to access the town is by boat.
