The 13-year-old boy who used his father’s gun to shoot and kill two friends at Ajumako in the Central Region has been provisionally charged with murder.
His father, Kwesi Aidoo, has also been charged with negligence.
They say the two will be sent to court Tuesday. The suspects are expected to be remanded whilst investigations continue to establish concrete evidence against them.
The boy was playing with the friends on his father's compound last week when he playfully threatened to kill them.
He then rushed to the room and came out with a double barrel gun belonging to his father and shot the two children – Patrick Okyere and Andrews, both 10 years old.
Ajumako District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Prosper Ahlijah told Joy News the boy is being kept in juvenile custody due to his age.
He said the police have spoken to mothers of the murdered boys to ensure that they do not, out of pain, do anything that is against the law.
Chief Supt. Ahlijah said chiefs in the community have been advised to speak with residents and that calm has been restored to the area.
Residents are also being sensitised on how to handle their guns at home and the need to keep them from their children.
