Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah says he will name his provisional 30 man squad on May 13, as Ghana prepares to make its third successive World cup appearance in Brazil.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has confirmed he will be ready to announce his 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup in the second week of May.
Appiah, who will be making history as the first Ghanaian to qualify and guide the Black Stars at the country’s third successive World cup appearance later this June, recently returned from ideas-sharing tour of English club Liverpool with his technical team staff, said May 13 is the date.
“It’s important that I come out with the provisional Squad and I will do so on May 13 before a week or two after, it will be whittle down to the final 23 for the tournament,” Coach Appiah told Accra-based Radio XYZ.
The 54-year-old ex-Ghana skipper, who also took the opportunity to monitor and visit some of the national team players at their clubs, said he was satisfied with the level of progress of his charges.
“I was monitoring most of the Ghanaian Players and I must say that I am satisfied with what I saw in Europe,” he added.
The 30-man provisional squad will begin a non-residential campaign in Accra from May 22 before emplaning to the Netherlands three days later to face the Dutch national team in a friendly match on May 31 at the Feyenoord Stadium.
