The breakaway National Democratic Party is expected to be fully licensed later Friday, giving it the all clear to contest the December elections. The party also intends to begin preparation for a delegate’s congress to elect a flag bearer.Former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has received the overwhelming endorsement of the party's rank and file to become the flag bearer and she is set to get the nod.According to the General Secretary of the party, Dr. Joseph Manboa-Rockson, Mrs. Rawlings will be the most ideal person to lead the party into the December elections.Dr. Manboa-Rockson noted that the selection of the former first lady goes to confirm that the Rawlingses are a part of the NDP saying, “Yes, this will confirm the rumours that the Rawlingses were behind the party and will campaign for us come December. The formation of the NDP is a provision of a new political party from the disenchanted movement of the NDC, NPP and other political parties.”He added that the NDP is to provide an alternative to the Ghanaian electorate, “that strong voice that will come and bring about the principles of accountability, probity, transparency and social justice.”The NDP chief scribe said the party is “polishing itself through the grassroots campaign and we are asking the grassroots to call upon the former President to join us in our campaign to wrestle back what he started.”
