Breast Care International, a non-governmental organization has pledged its commitment to improving healthcare in the country.
The latest of such support to the health sector is a $4.3 million donation to over 50 hospitals and clinics in the country.
It was in collaboration with United States based, Direct Relief.
The Breast cancer NGO recently donated drugs and medical consumables to psychiatric hospital across the country as part of its drive to ensure Ghana attains the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on ‘Good Health and Well-being’ by the year 2030.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, President of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai said the gesture is to ensure hospital and clinics are well equipped to provide world class healthcare to patients.
“The quest and zeal of the two donor institutions to reach out to the needy in society is motivated and driven by the desire for a healthy, productive population as envisaged by the 17 targeted U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, notably the third goal on “good health and well- being” she added.
The Breast Cancer advocate who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Peace and Love Hospitals said they would continue to collaborate with like-minded institutions around the globe in the campaign to bring relieve and improve on the living conditions of Ghanaians, adding that BCI would stop at nothing to realize this mission statement.
Dr. Wiafe Addai commended Direct Relief, for remaining dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life and restoration of human dignity, while collaborating with health service organizations to donate medical supplies in some sixty countries.
Other supporters are Johnson and Johnson Consumer Companies, Baxter international Inc.,Tyco Healthcare group LP, 3M consumer Health care, BoehrigerIngelheim, Unilever, U.S., Covidien, Merk & Co, Inc., Hospira, Ethicon, Becton Dickinson Consumer and Neutrogena Corporation provided the NGO with medial consumable to support hospitals in Ghana.
