The Ashanti Region came alive this past weekend as it hosted the second edition of the Momentum Walk, a youth-driven initiative championed by the 18Plus4NDC movement, led by Bridget Bonnie.
This quarter’s walk, dubbed the Politico-Traditional Walk, blended tradition, activism, and political engagement in a vibrant and meaningful manner.
Participants—many clad in colourful traditional wear and NDC-branded attire—walked from the Aboabo Post Office to the NDC Regional Office, engaging the community along the way with conversations about policy, leadership, and national development.

A key highlight of this edition was a strong campaign against the abuse of illicit drugs—a growing concern that continues to endanger the lives of many young Ghanaians.
The walk served not only as a call to action but also as a reminder that safeguarding the nation’s future begins with empowering its youth.

“The future of Ghana depends on the strength of our youth, and we cannot afford to lose them to drugs,” said Bridget Bonnie, Founder of 18Plus4NDC.
In addition to advocacy and community engagement, the walk also provided a platform to highlight the efforts of the current administration.

“We used this opportunity to share updates on what the government is currently doing, and what plans are underway for the benefit of the Ghanaian people,” stated Dr Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister.

The event further underscored an important point: while the NDC is currently in government, the party remains active at the grassroots level—continuing to mobilise its base and maintain strong connections with the people.
The organisers expressed deep appreciation to Dr Amoakohene for hosting the walk, and to the Ashanti Regional NDC leadership for their tremendous support and partnership.
